A Poet's Prayer

Lord, give me the words to spread Your love everywhere
To sow seeds of hope, where there is only despair
I believe Your living personal word shows that You care
For to understand it, can enhance the fruit that we bear

To live in Your Spirit, and to share Your fruits, I pray will be my only goal
To write beautiful words of faith hope, and charity to feed the hungry soul,
With fruits of; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Humility, and, self control
To share with everyone the beauty of these fruits, and seek not so much to be consoled, as to console

I pray, not for me to be understood, but to understand
And to write as if the writing came from Your Almighty hand
For it is in giving that we receive,
The love of Your given words, I believe

And what is given, one cannot steal
Your words can console, Your words can heal
A poet can write, only what a poet can feel
So I pray that I only feel, and write what is real

There are no words more, real than the word of the Lord
Beautiful as angels, more powerful than sword
Let me write as if I was a messenger from above
Bringing to the world a beautiful message of love
