Whatever, You Say?

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 11, 2004

Whatsoever you do to the least of my people
Maybe the people who can’t see
Or the people who can’t hide under the steeple
That is what you do unto Me

Eternal death or eternal birth
Whatever, you say?
Whatever is a sinner’s soul worth?
To Whom we all pray

All you saints who cast the first stones
Do you really know the meaning of love?
Words can hurt the soul. But not the bones
The only words that heal come from above

Yes it is true a loser cannot be a winner
Without God’s forgiveness and grace
Only love can heal the heart of a sinner
So we may see God’s holy face

If you must crucify me for your protection
To criticize me for loving is a bad mistake
Crucify me for trying to steal affection
Not for what is right for Heaven’s sake

When I speak of dignity and worth you may say whatever
But this pompous poet believes that God says forever
You know I am not worthy to bear my Savior’s cross
But if I do not, it will be my eternal loss
