This Face of Mine

by dandy   Oct 11, 2004

This face of mine recoils and hides,
among the many fakes and lies.

I always feel sad, so long it has been.
Since my face has smiled or spread with a grin.

Depressing it is, to not know why you're sad.
Feelings like this, can drive one mad.

Friends ask me what's wrong,
it's so sad I can't tell,
as the lump in my throat continues to swell.

At home in my room, the tears start to flow.
This face of mine is colored with woe.

What I would give, to have a good laugh.
Or one slight smile, perhaps just a half.

This face of mine tries so hard to show glee.
But faking I can't, my heart doesn't agree.

I walk alone on this road of shame,
I can't even win at my own saddening game.

Maybe one day, I'll smile in time.
This tear-streaked dreary face of mine.
