As the Rain Falls

by Dani Ward   Oct 12, 2004

How wonderful life was,
how grand it did seem,
because he'd found the one,
it seemed like a dream.
she was his everything,
the reason that he cared,
he loved her so much,
but he was so scared.
scared of losing her,
something he couldn't bear,
if that were to happen,
his life he would tear.
but she comforted him,
said she would never leave,
she'd always love him,
and they both believed.
she was to meet him,
at his house that day,
but she was really late,
and in a worry he lay.
he picked up the ringing phone,
as the rain fell outside,
he listened intently,
as he died inside.
the roads were slick,
and her car had been hit,
she didn't survive,
his heart fell in a pit.
he left his house,
and walked through the rain,
surely it couldn't be true,
he was going insane.
he pulled out a gun,
and said "I'm through,
I swear to you my love,
soon I'll be seeing you!"
then he pulled the trigger,
and took his life,
there was no way,
he could live without his wife.
their love was strong and pure,
it broke through countless walls,
and I'll forever remember it,
as the rain falls.

WOW.........such a sad poem, but it was so well written. I've been very fortunate not to have anything like this happen yet, but I'm sure I will someday. I loved this poem. It flowed very nicely. Great job, keep it up! ~dandy~
