Predator

by Sinister Soire   Oct 13, 2004

Above the burning land and soil
In the crisp clean air
Over the torment and toil
Soars a bird graceful and fair

It flies to escape the pain
That exists in our land
It glides above the pouring rain
To avoid our deadly hand

We killed its family and kin
To please ourselves with the kill
Committed the greatest sin
To fulfil our evil savage will

It is free above it all
Soaking in the rays of sun
Singing its beautiful call
Yet constantly on the run

Eventually it must come down
To rest its wings and body
That’s when we come from a near town
To perform the deed that is naughty

It is gone but there’s another
Always free like a cloud
Looking for its long lost lover
Wings flapping large and proud
