The Crush

My body is a mess of emotions,
My hands must be sweaty, because that sure is not lotion!

“But what if he doesn't like me & what if I decide I don’t like him??”
“Just give it a chance, you have to let it begin!”
Way to go brain,
drive me MORE insane!

Okay...relaaaaaax....deep breath now,
Man, you would think I was about to take my vows!

My heart, it seems, got bored in my chest,
Because it seems very happy pounding in my ears without rest.

Whenever I see him my eyes seem to lock,
I hope I don’t scare him and remember to talk.

Remember to smile & do not say something stupid,
Like, “ I think you are neat” or “Were you sent by cupid?”

Oh, here he comes and he is cute as can be,
Please, oh please, make eye contact with me!

I think the universe is collapsing,
I think we are falling through space,
For this one single moment
As we are now face to face.

“Hey!”
“Hey!”

That is all we say.
At least I got a nice smile...
and I survived my crush for (at least) one more day.
