The Most Beautiful Rose of All

by Million Tears   Oct 14, 2004

This is the first poem that i have submitted so far that is not about Inna. This poem is for my friend Shelly who has passed away at the age of 16. I read this at her funeral.

*~The Most Beautiful Rose of All~*

On August 21, 1988
God gave the people of the world a gift.
A gift so valuable,
That no amount of riches in the world could ever express its value.
This gift was a seed,
And God planted it into the soils of the earth.
With the love and care of family and friends,
This seed grew,
And grew.
But as it grew,
It fought hard through harsh rains and intense droughts,
And everyone knew that one day,
This seed would bloom into a beautiful rose.
And that day came.
It opened its pedals,
And spread happiness and joy to family and friends.
This rose gave the people of the earth two of the most valuable things in life:
Love and friendship.
Then one day,
God decided to pluck this rose,
And share its gifts with the angels in the skies above.
We will miss you Shelly,
And we always will.
Shelly truly was,
and will always be,
The most beautiful rose of all.

This was such a beautiful poem! It's obvious a lot of thought and love went into writing this. I'm very fortunate not to have had this kind of pain to endure, though some losses have come close. I'm sorry about your friend, but on that day, I'm sure she was listening, and I'm sure she loved it. Great job, keep writing. ~dandy~
