No Hope

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 14, 2004

In the realm of reality I had no right
To seek the secrets safely hidden from sight
Were they wisely whispered in a woman's heart?
I should have listened silently from the start

I carelessly closed my eyes and shut my ears
I was foolishly forgetting to face my fears
That love would pass as it had done for years
And Eros would laugh while I cried my tears

But to my heart Eros had already spoken
It’s hard to break a heart that has been broken
But there's no excuse for telling myself lies
Just because I am afraid to open my eyes

No one can really offer a hope of love
That is not whispered to one from above
True hope does not come to anyone
Afraid to fearlessly face the sun

It took me a couple of times to read the first part correctly, but I got it now and I give you a five because it's wonderfully written.
