That's what will happen!

by Kris Lynn   Oct 14, 2004

Why did you leave her
I don't understand
All by herself
Without a holding hand
Her father left her
Now you did too
You are her mother
Is that what you're supposed to do
That's all right
I'll pick her up
Off of the ground
I'll brush off the dust
I'll take her in my hand
And one day you'll see
She'll be calling me "Mommy"
You'll say "that could have been me"
And when she comes and asks
"Where's my mom and dad?"
I'll tell her the truth
I know that she'll be sad
But at least she was loved
Of that I'll be sure
And our bond will be special
What about yours?!
Then if she tries to find you
That will be OK
Because she'll know that you left her
That you ran away
And don't you worry
She will ask why
But you won't say anything
You'll just sit there and cry
Because what can you say
What can you do
When you know, deep down inside
She doesn't love you
Thanks for showing her how to walk away
While I showed her how to grow
And thanks to ME for correcting her
So that LOVE is all she knows.
