Waiting!

by Hannah Leigh Pate   Oct 14, 2004

As the winds sweep through the air, and it rains heavily
I look blankly at the sky, searching for a purpose in life
All I can see are drops of rain, and the sky so bleak
I sit in the mud, waiting for my time to come, for me to rise.

As time without end passes me by, I wait eternally in the cold rain
Always waiting, always searching, always have I lived in vain
I sing my quiet tune, however the sky remains black as ever
Still here, still rain, for my loneliness, it could last forever.

But I will linger, waiting for my incredible cheerful day
Waiting for more, forgetting my love, forgetting my pain
I wait, sturdy winds continue to grow stronger
Soaking wet, I ponder, “How much longer?”

But I will always wait
I will be still and remain
Today or eventually
Tomorrow or eternity.
