I'm Human!

by Keanna Hopkins   Oct 15, 2004

(This is directed to the people they call popular)

I know you think that I'm different
I feel your hated stare
I hear your criticizing voices
And I don't think that it is fair

I ache for your approval
I need to feel i belong
When i see you putting me down
I wonder what I did wrong

I hunger for acknowledgment
For I hate when you ignore me
Like you do to other popular people
I dream that you'd adore me

I sense your disapproval
I fight back all the pain
I watch you laugh at the way I look
But you still can't remember my name!

I crave your zest for life
I follow you everywhere
When you say that I'm not one of you
I tell you that I don't care

I stare with admiration
I copy whatever you do
You look at me as if I'm out of this world
Can't you see I'm human too!

I have a heart that is fragile
I feel, I mourn, I cry
Why do you think so different of me
I hurt, I bleed, I die!

I pity those who are like me
I pray for some sort of purpose
And when I get back up, off my knees
I still feel empty and worthless

I know you think that I'm different
But I do have feelings too!
Even though I hate you in many ways
I still wish that i were you!

This poem is so heart breaking. The emotion you have portrayed in this piece are so real. I am sure there are so many who can relate to this kind of pain. Excellent job!

This is so sad but a very good ending.
