Fears Of A Father

by Robert   Oct 15, 2004

I taught you how to walk and play,
I set lessons for you in what I say.
I prayed for you when you were sick,
I help you when you were in the thick.
Now you leave me as a grown man,
and I shudder at our governments plan.
You said you must do this for country and god,
that’s why I fear holding you here is odd.
You spoke with conviction and hate,
but I dread your fate.
As a father I hope your realize my pain,
but I know freedom is there to gain.
Go with my blessing and take care,
I will try not to despair.
I know in my heart you will do right,
but take care in the heat of the fight.
For you father wants you alive,
so with my love and faith I hope you will survive.
