This is a rape victims story
about her tremendous pain
about this day a year ago
an how she would never trust again

On this day a year ago
her boyfriend attacked
and what he took from her
she could never get back.

She thought he really loved her
she thought it was he she could trust
but this day a year ago
upon her body he thrust

he held her down,
her cry went unheard
and her heart went away
the silent wings of a bird.

She didn't tell anyone
for a month or so
and even when she did
the memories didn't go.

This is a rape victims cry
for her justice unserved
and pray for me on my life journey
since my story you have now heard.
