My First Mistake

This didn't actually happen to me.
It was just something I thought up.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

At first I decided not to.
It was against everything I had planned.
He didn't know my reasons.
He just didn't understand.
He thought I didn't love him
And didn't trust him with this gift.
That wasn't it at all.
So to prove it to him I gave in.
It was a cool winter's night.
Just us and the light of the stars.
At first I wasn't going to,
But eventually things went too far.
I didn't stop him.
A part of me didn't want to.
Maybe a part of me did.
But either way I can't take it back.
I can't take back my gift.
I thought I was much stronger
Than the person I've become.
I thought that I knew better
Than to do the things I have done.
I don't regret the person
With whom I shared this with.
I still love him just the same
As when we shared our first kiss.
I just wish I would have gone with my first choice,
Which was to wait.
But now the night is over.
So is my first mistake.
