Crying

Some people say,
that men don't cry,
that we should be made of stone,
that we're weak if we cry.

Well let me tell you something,
I am a man,
and I have cried
and I am crying.
I am not made of stone,
I am not weak.
I am me.

A week ago, I would not be like this,
I would be cheery,
fun,
happy.
Now I'm this way,
sad,
depressed
and lost.

I found out about the plane ticket,
and I crumbled that night,
I fell to my bed,
and I began to cry,

I am me,
Thomas Allen Key,
and I'm a man,
but I cried,
as I am now,
as I'm writing this.

The tears are in my eyes,
they are rolling down my cheek,
as I type each letter.

All my friends here,
every last one,
I will miss,
but only a few,
I will miss with all my heart,
very few indeed.

My best friend Colleen,
we went to youth group today,
and on the way home,
it was silent,
as we neared my house.
We knew what was coming.

Her mom stopped the van in front of my home,
and she said "if I don't get to see you again,
then it was nice meeting you."
And I shivered, and I brought my eyes down to the floor.
"This is my last week, and my last three days."

I looked over at Colleen,
and I held back my tears with all my might,
I began to tell her,
that Id call,
and write,
as often as I could,
and we hugged,
whispering,
"I'm going to miss you soo much"

Then i opened the door,
and I stepped out,
I looked back,
and I smiled,
"I'll be back."

As they turned around to head home,
I walked to my door,
and I turned back to watch them go down the street,
as they drove by, I held up my hand,
and once they were gone,
I feel to my knees,
and I began to cry.

Its been four hours since,
and I still am crying.
I'm going to miss you colleen,
Please don't forget me,
I wont forget you.
And as I said,
I'll be back.
I promise.
