The Prayer

by .x.PorteR.x.   Oct 20, 2004

The rain, though it poured heavily down
Was silent
But only to her ears
For all that she could hear right then
Was the pounding of her
Aching heart.

Her head spun round and round and round
As the glittering blade pierced the skin
Her only want…
Was to escape.
And now the tears changed form…
Red… and thick.
Blood.

For as long as she could remember
The pain
Had cut into her heart
And it hurt
More than any blade
Ever could.

And now, it was the end
For her.
She slit her wrists
And as the blood
Seeped through the split in her skin
She sent out a prayer:

“Give them what they deserve
For haunting me… for taunting me
Until I had no want to draw breath.
Give them what they deserve, lord…
For bringing me to my death.”

I am not a big fan of poems that don't rhyme, but I really liked the content here. It was beautifully written. Good job. You might like my poems as well, if you read them, please comment.
