For My Mom

by Luvmeluvr   Oct 21, 2004

You went away and left me here,
I'm falling without you.
I need to hear your beautiful laugh,
And hear your singing too.

I miss the way your face lit up
Whenever you would smile.
I miss the way you hugged me tight
When I'd been gone awhile.

I wonder why you had to leave
So early in your life.
You were only 43,
Only just beginning to thrive.

God took you when life had begun
To turn and go your way,
I hated Him for stealing you
That cold February day.

I wish that you were still around,
I miss your sound advice.
I wonder how you used to cook,
How to make it, and with what spice...

I wish that I could call you up,
And ask you all these things.
I call you now, but no one's there,
The phone just rings and rings.

I'll cry a tear for you right now,
And long for your comforting touch.
And though you're gone, I miss you, Mom,
And love you very much.

Sad but beautifully expressed sentiments. Thoughts like this are a reminder of how fragile life can be and how important it is to cherish those close to us and never take them for granted.
