Heavens perfect Sonnet

by Johnny Mac   Oct 21, 2004

Gazing off a cliff with arms wide open
Wind carrying my voice out over the ocean
A sharp voice pierces my ears
The stars are calling my name as the angels appear
Lost all hope, I dashed to the edge
My soul is yours now, dirty and cursed
Consider it but a gift, a returned favor
Remembering my first step, experiencing my last
Soaring to the depths below, Sailing so fast
Imagining your presence, your face, your warm glare
I’m dying with you, the heavens we’ll share
I closed my eyes, and waited for your hand
Opening them again to realize I could stand
Had I gone mad, or was this my fate?
Is this all the heavens my soul could create?
I stood all alone on a single white cloud
My death repeating my life, for no one was around
I called to the heavens demanding its reply!
That sharp voice again, told me just why
-“My son, I love you, but this is not your time”
I sat down, covered my eyes, tears of pain I cried
“Then teach me her song, so that again I can confide”
“You know all; you know my love is strong”
“Guide me to her heart, in the words of a song”
-“Here’s your perfect sonnet, from your heart you must say”
-“Come what may, I will love you, until my dying day”
Sent with his melody, my path guided by thousands of doves.
Creating my passageway back to her To guide me to my love
I sing to her the sonnet every waking day
I thank you God most of all for helping me find my way.
