My Suicide Attempt

Feeling guilty,
The bottle in my hand.
How could I cheat on
Such a wonderful man?

He'd leave me for sure,
Without him, I'd die.
I walk in and confess
That my life is a lie.

I tell him I cheated,
He looks at the floor.
I took all the Xanax,
He wonders what for?

"Because I can't live without you!"
"I WON'T, so I'm dying."
He tells me he loves me,
And please, to stop crying.

"But I cheated!" I yell.
"And I don't deserve you!"
"I've done this before,
So I guess we are through."

He tells me we're NOT through,
He loves me so much.
I wish I hadn't fallen
To the other man's touch.

He takes me to the hospital,
They care for me there.
I wake up the next day
In Intensive Care.

My husband has saved me,
But I feel unworthy of him.
I love him so much,
But my future is grim.

I'm sure that the next time,
I'll succeed in my plan.
Because I know that I hurt
Such a wonderful man.
