Wanna be

by Amanda   Oct 26, 2004

I wanna be that southern girl with overalls on
Cowboy hat and boots singing that honkey tonk song
Playin in field where no one else can see
Rolling around the tall grass engulfing me like the sea
Holding the baby calf as it begins to whine
Family around the table as we all start to dine
Under the stars in a comfy sleeping bag
Hugging my old teddy bear that has turned to a rag

I wanna be that city girl, all glitz and glam
Strolling down the street with my prada in my hand
Gazing in the windows as I walk swiftly by
Starring up into the dark gray sky
Skyscrapers to the left of me and to the right
Birds in a V concentrated on their flight
Asphalt paved streets and lights for miles
Horns honking and shouting… everything so wild
Walks through the park on a cool crisp night
Hugging my sweetheart oh so tight

I wanna be the urban girl in my retro skirt
Bracelets up my wrist and a plain t-shirt
I don’t care what you think
I’m not worried whether teal is the new pink
I dance when I feel like it
In the dark or where its well lit
I chill alone in my room
Surrounded by things that make me comfy
My big pillow in the corner, my book on the table
Go ahead and try to give me a label
I just look at you and smile
Hugging my head phones and my CD file
