Salt in my wounds

by Shona   Oct 26, 2004

Can you feel my pain? See the torment behind my eyes,
Like pools of glass waiting to be shattered,
By that single tear. It tastes like poison in my mouth.
With fire licking my insides it burns down to my soul,
Can you see what you've done, what you continue to do?
The cruelty of your words cuts like a knife,
As you smile and apply the salt to my wounds.

Ow... sorry, I always read break up poems when I'm sad and my eyes are really watering right now, your poem captured my emotions so perfectly. Well done. :)
