I Rise

by FTS Miles   Oct 26, 2004

[For a short time many years passed I experimented with a poetic prose. Never quite satisfied with the result, I nonetheless post some here to gather opinions.]

I rise into the darkness, ancient chords touched within my soul. My love rests peacefully behind me as I walk softly to the window, knowing I will see nothing. She stirs, and I bathe her in Light to preserve her peace from the Darkness.

The chords are struck once more, and I know their origins. He calls to me... He with whom I have quarreled countless times before... He calls me out into the night. Part of my soul wishes to go forth into my shadows, to face Him once more in the old ways.

I look to the bed behind me where the woman I love rests. He tries to stir Her, but she slumbers in Light. And I love her, I love her resting smile, and I love this life. This life, this love, is not what it has been before. Neither am I.

I turn away from the window... turn away from the Past. I shall not confront, only love. I am not who I have been. I ask that He not be as before. I call out with my love, inviting Him to meet me, in peace, in friendship. My sole condition is that He not come before the morn...

For at this moment, I take my rest with my love.
