I Give Up

by John Holley   Oct 26, 2004

I give up on trying to be the best of them
I'd rather be just like the rest of them
Instead of 100 percent and giving my all
I'd rather stay down whenever I fall
I give up on teamwork and working together
I'd rather stay inside than face the weather
Instead of a nice guy, so kind and polite
I'd rather do wrong I'm tiered of doing right
I give up on trying to keep my promise
I'd rather tell lies, its boring being honest
Instead of working hard and doing all I can
I'd rather hardly work, that's my new plan
I give up on my dream about marrying you
I'd rather just dream about burring you
I give up on everything, why can't you see
That it's only because you gave up on me.

WOW. this is brilliant. it is very deep and so sad. i can't tell how many times i've felt like giving up trying to be an individual and just becoming like everyone else. i thought you were giving up because it is easier to be like everyone else so the last two lines came unexpectedly. i was suprised by them and saddened as well. it horrible when you feel like someone close to you has given up on you or abandoned you. btw: 1) your on my favorites, 2) that is a picture of me in my profile, 3) thanks for the comments about both my poem and appearance :) take care. xmollyxx
