Saying Goodbye

by Unseen Exposure   Oct 27, 2004

Twirling hair around my finger
Impatiently waiting to know
What happened to dear Ruby
Was it her time to go?

"Grandmother" so they called her
And a loving mother too
Thursday morning she went with God
And with the angels, she flew

Seventy-five years of age
A wise woman of her years
Caring, loving, compassionate
A willing shoulder for your tears

A truly wonderful woman
With a glowing family of five
Beaming with life and laughter
Through all the years she spent alive

A stroke impaired her memory
Her speech was stripped and gone
She stayed there with her daughter
Who took care of her so long

Six years of feeding, and changing
Devotion like no other
"I have to help the ones I love
Especially when it's my mother"

But thursday morning, she left this world
And into the light she was embraced
Left behind the family and friends
That had been dreading this day to face

The ceremony was beautiful
"We remember her in love"
And I knew looking down on us
Was Ruby up above

They kissed her casket, closed the doors
And the black car drove away
I will never forget this memory
Or saying goodbye to Ruby on that day.

-- We Miss You, Ruby. You were an amazing woman. --

WOAH! thats a great poem! I wish i could write like that, its a shame that it had to be based on a death of whom you love though. I'll pray for your family. Just keep up the work.
