Eye To Eye

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 27, 2004

We hate to say goodbye
We can’t see eye to eye
Can we see where we are?
I say near. You say far

Sometimes I see day
When you see night
I only see darkness
Where you see light

Can we see what is out of our sight?
We assume the day follows the night
Why can’t we see eye to eye
Do we believe the book is a lie?

You only see coincidence
Where I believe I see a sign
I believe I see providence
Indifference could undermine

Sometimes we can see
But we fear to look
We know what could be
If we went by the book

Be not afraid He said
Take My hand instead
Follow Me to the light
I will restore your sight

And if wicked tongues insult you
And hate you all because of Me
Blest is a heart that’s pure and true
And Spirit in holy unity

But what of us who can’t see eye to eye
Should we be stubborn and not even try?
Find our own way. Walk our own line
You go your way, and I’ll go mine
