This Secret I Cannot Keep

by Jackie Bilson   Oct 27, 2004

The way your eyes look into hers
The way your arms hold her waist
The way your fingers caress her hand
The way you kiss at her gate

The fury consumes my soul
The pain cuts so deep
But I keep quiet, stay silent
This secret I must keep

She gushes about your love
She shows me her ring
The ring you swore you'd give me someday
Oh how the jealousy stings

The fury consumes my soul
The pain cuts so deep
But I keep quiet, stay silent
This secret I must keep

She asks about my new boyfriend
She asks when she can meet
She hugs me, she's glad I met someone new
If only it were that simple and neat

The fury consumes my soul
The pain cuts so deep
But I keep quiet, stay silent
This secret I must keep

She just found out she's pregnant
She told me she's getting married to you
I can't lie to my best friend any longer
I'm carrying your baby too.

The fury consumed my soul
The pain still cuts so deep
But I can't keep quiet or stay silent
This secret I cannot keep

Great work Jackie! I never thought I could write from a title... but when I started getting titles from a firend, I found that it really stretched my poetic muscles...

this is very nicely written! I love the repeating "chorus"... nice touch!

with it not being true makes it that much better. You were able to convey emotions with out feeling them personally. Great jpb, keep up the good work. take care
