Story of Fifteen Years

by Erin   Oct 27, 2004

So scared, all alone,
Where is this place, I'm supposed to call home?
Why does it have to be like this, who knows?
Is this how the story of fifteen years is supposed to go?

A beautiful young girl, two loving parents,
She was never sad, at least it wasn't apparent,
Her pretty smile, her believable lies,
They'd never suspect it, shes too happy, she never cries.

They would never see it, her mom seemed so nice,
But she wasn't, and this little girl had to pay the price,
Smacked, slapped, pushed all over the place,
Falling to the ground, always covering her face.

They never wondered, her dad seemed to care,
Except for those nights, with all the pain she had to bear,
Beat with a belt, her swollen body screams with no sound,
Her heart bleeds, her head pounds.

All of this seems hard to imagine, hard to believe,
But even if they knew, for her they wouldn't grieve,
They wouldn't understand, they wouldn't try,
They just couldn't comprehend, why it makes her cry.

Fifteen years later, this all still happens,
It happens now, it happened then.
Just as painful as ever, even worse,
This is her life, this is her curse.
