Mirror Of Memories

by Rita   Oct 28, 2004

She stares at the mirror in silence,
her fist is ready to explode.
she's finally ready to tell her tale,
and let the story unfold.

pictures are spread beneath her,
she pushes them all away,
why wasn't he ever there?
was it her that pushed him astray?

he left her when she was only three,
to become someone she'd never know;
he always called her "his mistake,"
and he never watched her grow.

now its eleven years later,
he wants back into her life.
but how could she ever give in?
she'd already replaced him with a knife.

She always kept to herself though,
ignoring the tears left undried
only a few people knew
how much she bottled it up inside.

Staring again at the mirror
she wonders does anyone see?
Look straight into her eyes,
this girl- this girl is me.
