Sweet Innocence

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 29, 2004

Weather its man or woman, wild or tame
If sweet innocence is really our aim
Maybe we should not cast the blame
I think our natures are the same

Those who run with the swift, and stomp on the lame,
They’re playing a dangerous and futile game
Without universal love, nature can maim
In a world of illusion, that’s full of shame

If our own illusions of innocence are not budged
Where as we are judging, but we resent being judged
Yet the illusions of others are begrudged
How can our innocence remain pure, not smudged?

We reap what we sow
And eat what we grow
We are what we eat
But some are not sweet

Justice is sweet, but mercy is sweeter
The reaper of these will be the eater
The Keeper of justice will fairly meter,
With just scales, the mercy of the cheater

Let us not cheat ourselves by consuming only the grapes of wrath
While the Lord bestows sweet mercy forever in our daily path
If we greet our brothers, and sisters with beatitudes
We may find, they will develop better attitudes

With these beatitudes, and the kind mercy of our sweet Lord
Who bought back our innocence, at a price, we couldn’t afford
We all may drink the divine blood, which He has poured,
That, the sweetness, of our innocence may be restored

Wow! Incredible. It's been a long time since I've been able to tell of someone's relationship with God--at least a genuine one.
