The Ring

by Dani Ward   Oct 29, 2004

He cherished the ring,
that had been for his love,
it connected him with her,
from the heavens above.
they'd been so in love,
and life was so wonderful,
no matter what happened,
with her it was never dull.
everything felt so right,
when he was holding her hand,
starlit nights together,
lying in the sand.
but something had gone wrong,
and everything got screwed up,
in just one instant,
like a shattering glass cup.
her life had been taken,
he'd watched her breathe her last breath,
some psycho with a knife,
had made him watch her death.
now he only had the ring,
to keep with him his whole life,
never let it go,
even if threatened by a knife.
the ring had been for proposal,
to ask her hand in marriage,
now it lay around his neck,
as he rode in the carriage.
going to her funeral,
the carriage was hit by a car,
and now he lay in the hospital,
with a deadly scar.
he held the ring in his hand,
and kisssed it once for death,
and then he looked toward heaven,
as he breathed his last breath.
he saw his love again,
as an angel sent to him,
to guide him up to heaven,
so life would never be grim.
when you see their tombstone,
you see that it's not gone,
right there in the stone,
is the ring declaring their love still lives on.
