Gift Of A Rose

by Robert   Oct 30, 2004

Bathed in colors of the rainbow you make your mark in the soil,
But given to lovers after their passion where they toil.
A flower so precious that one doesn’t want to touch,
But given to another means just so much.
It is the flower that combines passion into love we share,
And giving it out of love or just saying that we care.
This flower baring the thorns to arm itself from attack,
Tells us that you should never give up on love or even hold back.
Behind the weight of the thorns lies the beauty we shall see,
A lasting love that is for you and me.
Past the barbs to the beauty and then the scent that makes on want to live,
To the presenter of this gift is the love it will give.
So give it to one you cherish and hold dear to your heart,
For this gift you can find along any street in a flower cart.
