I'll Be Here ...

by Unseen Exposure   Oct 30, 2004

Emotional confusion tossed aside and undermined
Truth's hidden secrets are close, but yet confined
Twisted words of nothing replaying in my head
All the things they never did, and the things they never said

Tears of pain and anger fall but don't ask why
Pretending it's a great release, to see in our mind's eye
But reality has taught me better and I know it all
Careless movements make no sense when hands must crawl

Knees and elbows aching from the outburst in the night
Holding "Teddy" and clenching his fur with all her might
Staring at the phone wanting to call a savior for her soul
But, alas, the one she trusted has frozen solid cold

Pounding on the doors "I'll get you, be afraid!"
Her room becomes a prison, and to no God she's taught to pray
Finger prints around her neck from his tight fingers
The scent of stale pain wanders loose and lingers

The pale remains of yesterday are written on the walls
Countless streams of beaten tears and when they fall
Memories that will never fade, but yet subside
Assuming the position for a hope she can't confide

Silent screams made through words, that's how it goes
Little secrets slip, bits and pieces are exposed
Shattered dreams inside her eyes, I know are there
But speak of them not, just a blank and lonely stare

I come to you with words of hope to pull you through
One day you'll escape this hell and start a new
You're worth so much, more than that bastard can see
One day you'll be brave, and your heart will be free

No excuse for abuse, raise your hands, life your head
Wander these roads, wipe your tears, none to shed
Hold out your palm, hand in hand with belief
A day when tomorrow is just yesterday's grief

Love between lovers you think fake and un-true
But love between friends could help guide you through
I hold out my arms, give you a shoulder to weep
A silent reminder of a confidant you can keep
