The Guardian's Search

by МÅťťђĕш Яĕĩŋĕßĕřg   Oct 30, 2004

The one I guarded was now gone,
No longer training on the lawn,
Captured by some demon spawn
For he was evil's bane.

I took off and started flying
Toward my charge that I heard crying,
As if that he was slowly dying,
Crying, howling in pain.

Swiftly there I flew like fire,
The crying sounded oh so dire,
So I soared onward, higher
From no speed did I abstain.

As I flew on through the air,
My wits had just begun to scare,
The crying, No!, it wasn't there,
My search had been in vain.

Then in one instant fleeting,
While I started my retreating,
Ear and cry, they started meeting,
The captive wasn't slain.

Again I flew on toward the cries,
The wailing was joined by sighs,
And very much to my surprise,
The cries began to wane.

Given up my captive had
I was not in the least bit glad,
My captive's death would be so sad.
My ears I now did strain.

Finally I reached the place,
And my heart began to race,
As I saw his tortured face,
Shining in the rain.

Thankful he was still alive,
Too late I did not arrive,
Now he would do well to thrive,
And grow to be a thane.
