Blessed Chorus

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 1, 2004

In our humble prayer group, we begin with songs of praise
But we all agree our chorus has seen its better days
Our musical leaders have left gone their separate ways
Yet we sing our praise and glory with humble hearts ablaze

I heard the truth from Joe McCabe
A man blessed, and poor in spirit
And like old honest Abe
The truth he does not fear it

We’re sorry we can’t sing better, but it makes us want to laugh
When we try to sing the songs of praise, without our better half
And if we sing out of tune, and so lowly that you can’t understand
We still may be as blessed as the lowly who will inherit the land

And though we hunger and thirst for harmony, and long to have musical skill
We are blessed as those who hunger and thirst for holiness, who, shall have their fill
Blessed are those who show mercy; for mercy they shall find
And if you heard our singing; mercy would come to mind

We are as blessed as the single hearted who shall see God first
That is of course if He does not hear us coming, singing at our worst
I hope my Lord has a sense of humor, to Him I make my peace
I hope to come to Him singing where our laughter will never cease
