Midnight Suicide

by Hannah Leigh Pate   Nov 1, 2004

In the middle of the night, when the moon was high
A young woman cries on this lonely and cloudy night
The moon hardly comes from within the shadows to see
This teenager so alone, so depressed, so lost in grief
With no one to observe, she pulls out a steel knife
Considering her choices, considering her isolated life
She puts it down and thinks of all her forgotten memories
The moon hides and she remembers her broken family
Tears grow rapidly, and she again lifts the the deadly device
To her touch, the dagger feels comforting, yet cold as ice
She doesn't hesitate, she cuts her throat and barley sees the crimson
She bleeds uncontrollably, falls, then drops her murderous weapon

The moon shows through the clouds to witness this bloody fatality
Before she drifts away, everything is suddenly all clear
She realized her mistake, she knew all was fine, but still brought this release
Morning came and went, all elapsed, but her body still lay there.
