My Experience with Love

I have loved and I have lost
I’ve learned the prize is worth the cost
Risked it all and I have won
And been ashamed with the things I’ve done
Always tried to speak my mind
Been knocked down from time to time
Had my heart broken time and time again
Been betrayed by my so called friends
Spent nights wishing for the moon
Kept hoping some bad things weren’t true
I’ve cried myself to sleep many a night
And I’ve made love until the morning light
Seen goods time come and good times go
Figured out some things I didn’t know
Given away my heart a couple times
Only to realize that love is blind
Experienced the highest of highs
Only to once again hear her goodbyes
Walked hand in hand on the beach at night
Felt things that seemed so right
Made the mistake of falling in love
With things I couldn’t get enough of
Found my true love to make me whole
The one who would complete my soul
Devastated when she said goodbye
Couldn’t deal with it even though I tried
Dug myself a little grave
Just a place for me to stay
Forever till the end of time
All because I lost my mind
May God have mercy on my soul
