Running Out Of Time

by Pinto Bean Power   Nov 2, 2004

You will fall to the floor,
Knowing you are nothing more
Than a blur
A vision of what you once were.

You knew you were winning,
They couldn't beat you from the beginning.
However, just when you were believing
In yourself... you saw him grinning.

He flew past you at lightning speed,
Eyes shining with hard earned greed,
Face showing the truth in this deed,
Then, it hit you that you were no longer in the lead!

He reached the girl before you could.
Knowing you could do no good.
He knocked her through the wood
In which the door was made of... you stood,

Frozen in shock,
Hand unconsciously reaching for the rock.
Tick tock,
Tick tock...

The girl awoke,
Left arm broke,
Hoping it was all a hoax.
You know, one big joke.

She did not want to believe
That her brother Steve
Would try and kill her and leave
her for dead... it was hard to believe.

Who had saved her?
Was it some perve?
Whoever they were,
She'd love them forever.

She trudged back toward the house,
her adrenaline aroused.
However, she still shook like a frightened mouse.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed her shoulder... ouch...

She turned and found she was at gun point,
She clenched her aching joint,
and waited for the end...

It never came,
She still had a name.
However, she showed her shame
at being so lame.

She knew her brother was dead.
A large shadow loomed over her head.
Was this the man she loved or dread?
She turned around... and felt like bread.

With two strong, warm arms wrapped around her body.
This day was ungodly!

Now she felt safe,
and she had faith.
He walked her back,
His arm aimed behind his back and with a final crack
Steve lay still,
another bullet in his back...

Her savior wanted to make sure
That Steve was dead and would cause no more hurt.
