A poem by Steff Atsales

by Katrina   Nov 2, 2004

I can't deney what i have been since birth.
overgrown gardens of innocence
Childhood suffocated by weeds of desolation.
In a world where all your nightmares come alive
Come to me, your sanctuary.
I promise to stay by your side.
Have no fear, for we are not the chosen ones.
The darkness will arrive.
Bring upon us the redemption of earth.
When the sky bleeds black and rains drops of fire
I will keep you. Trust me. I will keep you.
You’re the angel with two broken wings.
Come to me and stay awhile.
I will teach you how to fly.

When all is healed
I will release you from the bleeding palms of my hands.
Into the dawn of darkness you will escape
Everyone leaves…eventually so will I
I am gone and I cannot find the garden in which my soul has found a home
I waved as I passed myself along the way.
The monsters from our nightmares come alive.

The sky will come crashing down and shackle me to my fate.
I feel the shards of glass swimming in my eyes.
I feel the ice in my veins.
It’s changing me.
Blood is seeping from my pores.
Come and sleep with me.
I will seep into you.
Destiny.
You will contract my disease.
Please stay, the angel from paradise.
I love you with a broken heart.
Now open yours and let your life spill over me.
Do you like what I’m becoming?
My skin is burned but it heals my heart,
And with glowing pride I’ll wear my scars.
You used to hate who I am now,
Will you love me if I beg?
I’m the monster in our nightmares
