Love Is Blind

by John Holley   Nov 3, 2004

Love will use it's ears
To hear your perfect voice
The world looks for your money
Then makes their choice
Love will use it's tongue
To savor your every kiss
The world will only see
Everything that you miss
Love will use it's nose
To inhale your gorgeous smell
The world sees our races
And condemns us to hell
Love will use it's hands
To feel your heavenly skin
The world looks for your wrappings
Missing your gifts within
It's true that love is blind
However the world can see
That's why so many people
Hate to see you with me

That is a beautiful poem! My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years and he is a black man so I know just what you talking about.....We get it too...Fortunately our families don't mind. But just going to the store, any where, the way people look kills me. Just today he came to my job to eat luch with me and we went to an ice cream shop and the old women coming in there looked at us as if we were absolutely nothing. It hurts I know and I wrote that poem because when I was in school I hung with a lot of his friends and I had a lot of black friends....anyway a lot of people called me white girl and I hated it.
