The Carpenter's Son

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 5, 2004

The Son of man was born a poor carpenter's Son
A hunted fugitive before His life had begun
Yet he was honored from afar by mystic kings
Born of a virgin protected by angels wings

The wisdom that the wise men had must have come from heaven
But like the kingdom that they sought the Bread was not yet leaven
The magi brought to Jesus the things that we all treasure
They offered to the son of man things to give him pleasure

Who knows what happened to the frankincense, myrrh, and gold
Who knows what became of the silver for which he was sold
And heaven only knows what happened to that celestial star
Is it what we have, or what we seek that makes us who we are?

Who among us has no need for one to wash his plate?
Who has not tasted the forbidden fruit that our parents ate?
Would you share your last meal with one who had no money?
To be baptized by one who survives on locust and honey?

The Bread from heaven feeds a multitude with fishes
Let anyone who hungers and thirst have all that he wishes
The Lord built an altar on which we all may feed
We gave to Him a cross. He gave us what we need

This particular poem is fulfilliing and inspirational on many levels.

I found myself wanting to drop to my knees and cry with sweet happiness and sorrow all at once.

The convictions that I feel everytime I pause and remember that it was because of me that the hand and feet of Christ was pierced.

It was because He loved me so much that He hung on the cross without asking why. Oh, the grateful tears that flow from my spirit and eyes every moment I stop and look at the price my Savior paid to ransom me and set me free.

Couldnt capture the truth more. You got it where it should be, kept the story alife like it was yesterday. I love this. Can you read "Traboudors Musings"?
