Sudden Gun

by Unseen Exposure   Nov 6, 2004

Perhaps these unspoken feelings
Are less than brilliantly thought
I thought maybe I'd be good enough
But circumstances proved, I'm not

It's a blatant world of loneliness
With crimson blood of everchanging sight
I sit here on this mound of hate
And wait for it all to ignite

And maybe I should have said more
When my lungs could no longer shout
But by then it was too late
The secret was already out

So, naturally, I crumbled
A routine of the somewhat depressed
Gracefully melted and faded
And waited for the disease to infest

Uncharacterized figures of hunger
Tempt my watering bones of crave
"You can have it if you want it"
What they mean is "Just be brave"

So within these battered walls
Now colorless and stained with blood
And the rain that mixed with dirt
Is now deep and careless mud

I take my staggered breaths
Rest assured that I am alone
To wander the rest of this life
Without a guiding figure on the throne

But I care not, and I fear not
Bitterness is at my back
And whether my world is lit
Or intrigued in nightly black

I'll walk the path of this sorrow
I'll mingle with the souls alike
We'll share the sight of this prosper
And who next, we shall invite

Aimlessly I shoot my gun
Somehow the bullet finds my heart
Words stop spewing from my hands
And suddenly, everything is dark ...
