Empty Eyes

by Serena   Nov 6, 2004

Eyes that speak no soft-spoken words,
Screaming in pain, yet they’ll never be heard.
Empty and gray, containing only grief,
Searching so hard for the slightest relief.
Before they were green, with specks of gold.
Now they are lifeless, barren, and cold.
I miss the warmth, sparkle, and thrill,
Replaced by a dark, heart numbing chill,
Eyes that see no color, only shades,
And the shadows grow restless as the light starts to fade,
Don’t gaze too long it wouldn’t be wise,
Or you’ll be trapped in this world of sorrow and lies.
I warn you, take heed, turn away while you can,
Return to the joy and the pleasures of man.
Go now, why you still have the chance,
Don’t throw it all away for one last glance.
You'll lose all hope, when the love finally dies,
Then all you'll have to show are your cold empty eyes...
