Lying on my deathbed,
Staring at the sky,
I’m only seven years old,
So then why must I die?

I want to be a ballerina,
But I can’t feel my feet.
The last thing I remember,
Is walking out onto the street.

I’m on the starched white sheets,
With IV tubes in my arm,
I’m so sorry Mommy,
I didn’t mean to cause you harm.

I was so careless this morning,

I didn't watch the flame,
And so now I am the fool.

I don’t understand what’s happening,

Don’t worry, I’ll do my homework,
And then together we’ll bake a pie.

I’m just upset that I got caught.

Just tell Daddy I miss him,
When he’s always on a trip,
Please tell my best friend Sally,
That she can have Barbie and Skip.

Thank you for being there for me,
Even if you think you weren’t,
Thank you for making me pancakes,
Even though they got burnt.

Tell this boy named Jared,
That I think that I’m in love,
I wish that I could kiss him,
Instead of giving him a shove.

Well, Mommy I’m becoming tired,
So I think I’ll get some sleep.
Please be here when I wake up,
Please make that a promise you keep.

Mommy bend your head down,
I’m too weak to pull myself up,
I want to give you a nighttime kiss,
I want to play Mom and Pup.

You’re right, it’s much too late,
And that’s a daytime game.
