For It is Mine; and I shall Keep It

by Unseen Exposure   Nov 8, 2004

Take it away
Every last ounce of pride
Left in me
It's worth nothing
As it is anyways

But don't take away
My dignity
It's mine
And I shall keep it

I don't care how weak
My hands are
I will hold on to it
With all I have
For it is mine
And I shall keep it

And you may rip my mask off
And show
The "Real Me"
It bothers me not
What others think

But do not take my heart
Or what little warmth
It retains
For it is mine
And I shall keep it

But you may have my soul
It means nothing to me
Anyways
It's cold and
Bitter

And please
Do not take my love
Or what shallow hope
Remains worthy
Of passion
For it is mine
And I shall keep it

You may have my tears
I do not want them
Or the sadness
They weigh me down with
Take them away

But do not take my belief
For it's all I have left
And it is mine
And I shall keep it.

For it is mine;
And I shall keep it.
