When I Close My Eyes

by Jackie Bilson   Nov 9, 2004

When I close my eyes I see you,
I see you sitting next to me on this bed.
I can feel your fingers intertwined with mine,
And can count every golden strand on your head.

When I close my eyes I can hear you,
I hear your voice whisper my name.
I find comfort in your breathing,
Like everything was is still the same.

Can you still see sitting with you?
Can you remember the touch of my hand?
Can you remember the way I said your name?
Is love still something you understand?

In real life I no longer have you,
You're gone and I don't know where.
But I remember you and everything you were,
When you were still right there.

When I close my eyes I see you,
Like we didn't say tearful goodbyes.
You're still here, holding and loving me,
But only when I close my eyes.
