The Past

by lakitu   Nov 9, 2004

I used to be so happy,
Wild and carefree,
If only you could now see
The damage that you have done to me.

I used to smile,
Laugh and shout,
Not really care about life,
Not really know what it was about.

Now I know life is about pain,
Misery and sorrow.
You stole my life away,
Notice I say stole not borrow.

You took my innocence
My self-respect
You took my childhood,
Something that I’ll never forget.

When I see you
I feel my heart stop.
I feel my stomach churn.
When will I ever learn?

It wasn’t my fault,
I wasn’t to blame,
Yet, in my heart I know,
That the past will never let me go.
