In The Back of My Mind

by Luvmeluvr   Nov 11, 2004

In the back of my mind
In a forgotten place
In a tiny spot
I see your face

I turn my head
I look away
But glancing back
You're here to stay

I love my spouse
I truly do
So why is it
I think of you?

I hate myself for it
I hate how I feel
I can't get away
My heart just can't heal

I need to be firm
In convincing my brain
That I've not gone mental
I've not gone insane

But gently remind me
I know who I love
And just him and I
Are more than enough

This is a powerful love poem in an atypical fashion... the passion of love mixed with different roads taken and conflicting unions. Being torn in two directions, by two loves, is a terrible, hungry quandary. As I said in comments on another of your poems... bon chance.
