Rememberance day

by nicole   Nov 12, 2004

This was what my 10-year-old brother wrote for the remembrance day. Dont be too harsh on him.

war
bent double, sick, struggling through the icy mood of winter
men, as they walk cough up frothy blood.
their hearts warmed up as the approached safety.
walking in darkness, when suddenly the sky fills with a bright defining flare.
big bags under their exhausted eyes, they walk like zombies.
trembling through mud with no boots just cuts and bruises.
he crawls through cold mud, the look on his face makes me cry.
nobody hears the gas shell drop behind them.
"gas gas, gas mask on now"
soldiers panic to get there masks on.
all i can see out of my slick, black mask is my friend coughing up his guts.
paralyzed with shock.
how would you feel in my place?
the cart jumps up over the bumps as he coughs a litre of blood.
war is horrible, war is not the answer.
