Twilight Tears

I don't know
what I must feel...
feel within the pain
that will not die away
for a long time
that I may think of you.
Although you have
hurt me so
so deeply for years,
and I have shed such
hopeless tears,
and now the worst
of all my tears errupt.
I never knew that sadness
and love
were entwined,
but I felt it all...
all combined.
Some days I came home
to add on to
fifty poems that
described the true
feelings I felt at that time.
I had my ups
I had my downs...
times I knew you had
to feel the same way,
and other times
I doubted all of
the years.
And finally
the words all came,
unclear,
but broke my
heart all the same...
I won't have the
heart to
ask
if that was what you meant.
For the years
that I have spent
on your only heart
and mind,
I feel that I cannot go on
even if you hurt my heart...
I feel that
I cannot go on,
until you return
my heart,
or tell me that
you will keep it...
