Dream Walking

by Danielle   Nov 14, 2004

You shatter open the dark window pane
and grab for the locked door once again

you gaze at pictures that line the walls within
reach into your pocket and wonder where to begin

you slowly pull out the note from seasons past
and think about the time you saw her last

you kneel down, remembering old memories
hoping to bring you back where you need to be

Instead you flip open the knife and shred the letter
As your mind races for the pain to get better

you stumble and try to catch your breathing
but inside you know the next one too will be leaving

you make your way back to the door
close it and lock it behind you once more

    Wonderful.

You capture the reader from start to finish. For your poise is overwhelming. (5)
